About

I’m a qualified accountant, black belt 4th degree and Master Instructor in Tae Kwon Do, and a former member of Mensa .

Originally from Norfolk, I’ve always had always had an interest in mathematics, law and computer programming, subjects I find “geekishly interesting”. I studied at the University of East Anglia to study Accountancy with Law, graduating with a Bachelors degree. Moving to Swindon, I’ve continued furthering my accountancy knowledge, eventually qualifying as a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

While at university I also discovered a passion for politics, always up for debating the issues of the day, which often drives the content of my blogs. I’m an optimist but also a pragmatist, hopeful for a better future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and the means to do so, and a society that supports each other while allowing everyone to thrive and be independent.

Having studied Judo for five years in my younger days, I started studying Tae Kwon Do in 2007. It wasn’t long before I discovered a passion for both martial arts and teaching, so I worked to become a qualified instructor, eventually opening up my own school. That journey continues to this day, most recently qualifying as a 4th Degree Black Belt in tae kwon do and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in a style of Mixed Martial Arts.

I’ve also over the years had a taster in Karate, Fencing and Tai Chi, and also has experience with escrima, nunchucks, wooden sword and Jo staff.

Martial Arts, accounting, systems, sci-fi and mindfulness continue to be my inspirations, passions and interests in my life, as well as my friends and family who mean the world to me.
